The AICPA Accounting Scholars Leadership Workshop is an annual invitational program for minority accounting students who plan to pursue the CPA designation. This event aims to strengthen students’ professional skills and understanding of the limitless possibilities and benefits of earning the CPA credential.
Through speakers, panel discussions and interactive programs, participants gain confidence and an enhanced understanding of the various career paths within the accounting profession to prepare them for the steps that follow graduation. An all-expenses paid event, the AICPA Foundation covers the cost of student attendees’ transportation, hotel accommodations and meals. Learn more about the AICPA Foundation.
The deadline for submitting an application for the 2013 AICPA Accounting Scholars Leadership Workshop is April 1, 2013.
What to Expect
Attendees will participate in numerous sessions and panel discussions covering a wide array of topics such as developing leadership skills and passing the CPA exam. Students will have the opportunity to interact with accomplished CPA professionals who will share priceless knowledge regarding career opportunities in accounting and the value of networking.
Program Venue & Date Information
The AICPA Accounting Scholars Leadership Workshop will be hosted in three regional locations. Applicants will be assigned to regions based on travel accommodations given their respective cities of origin.

Frequently Asked Questions
If I am graduating in spring/summer 2013, may I still attend the workshop?Yes: this is an ideal program for recent accounting graduates. This workshop benefits attendees by strengthening networking and communication skills to prepare workplace leaders.
If I have attended a past AICPA Workshop, may I come back?To enable as many students as possible to have this experience, students who have attended a previous workshop may not attend.
What if I have another obligation (class, work) at the same time as the workshop and still want to attend?Students are required to attend the workshop for the full two days. If needed, the AICPA will provide your employer or teacher with information regarding the content and benefit of your participation in this program.
May I attend if I am already a CPA?No, those persons who are already CPAs are not eligible to attend as participants. However, CPAs interested in serving as program volunteers for the workshop may contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
How will I know if my application is accepted?Applications for the Accounting Scholars Leadership Workshop are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Accepted students will receive a formal invitation via email. At this time, students must complete their registration as directed within the indicated timeframe or their invitation to the workshop may be forfeited to allow for an alternate student to attend.
