James Gutierrez is a bass-playing, video-gaming, computer science graduate whose motto is “Work hard, play harder.” He’s made some not-so-frugal purchases in the past, but wants to get a grip on his finances and pursue his dream of building a music-based mobile app. The 2013 AICPA Accounting Competition gives students a shot at advising James through crucial life decisions and presenting their financial plans in Washington, D.C. The most impressive plan walks away with $10K.
The proposed plans have been pitched and the adrenaline rush of presenting has passed. The Top 3 teams laid it all on the line and the results are in. Second-runners up snagged $2,500. First-runners up pocketed $5,000. And the supreme team netted a cool $10,000. But it you weren’t among them, there’s always next year. Plus, a stellar career in accounting pretty much assures you’ll be scoring big bucks on a bimonthly basis.
Ever wonder where the award money for the AICPA Accounting Competition comes from? Glad you asked. The AICPA Foundation cordially supplies all the spoils for the victorious teams.
